Lionel Foy Edwards age 84 of Fancy Gap, Virginia passed away Wednesday in Troutdale, Virginia.

Mr. Edwards was born on July 23, 1927 in Grayson County, Virginia to John Edgar and Nellie Pearl Burcham Edwards. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ruth Lowe Edwards and brothers Homer, Dean, Vincent, Evan and Keith Edwards.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Nita and Carson Goad; son and daughter-in-law Nicholas and Freida Edwards all of Fancy Gap, Virginia; sisters and brothers-in-law Ruth Tuttle of Walnut Cove, North Carolina; Opal and Garland Walters; Gail and Jim Edwards all of Galax, Virginia; brothers and sisters-in-law Neil and Rose Edwards of Martinsville, Virginia; Lonnie and Peggy Edwards; Reece and Eula Edwards all of Galax, Virginia; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a special friend Geraldine Murray.

The funeral service will be held Monday, December 26, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Dewey Felts officiating. Burial will follow in the Crooked Creek Cemetery with Military Rites by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 PM until time for the service at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
