Lillie Opalene Roberson's Obituary
Lillie Opalene Roberson age 82 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in the Waddell Nursing Home.
Mrs. Roberson was born on September 13, 1932 in Floyd, Virginia to John and Effie Harman Hancock. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Roberson; her sisters Arlene Hancock Hylton and Nancy Faye Hancock Hylton; her brothers Norman Hancock, Reginald Hancock and Mervin "Bud" Hancock.
She spent many years caring for others, serving as a certified nursing assistant for over 50 years.
She is survived by her daughter Kim Roberson of Danville, Virginia; her sons and daughter-in-law Doug and Jane Roberson of Dumfries, Virginia; Paul Roberson and David Roberson both of Galax, Virginia; two grandchildren & spouse Stephen Roberson; Audra and Albert Jones of New York, New York and a great-granddaughter on the way.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Randy Morris officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 AM until time for the service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
