Lillie Roberta Rakes Mabe age 71 of Fries, Va. passed away Monday, September 14,2009 at the home of her daughter in Wytheville, Va..

Roberta was born in Fries, Va. on September 24, 1937 to Willie Gordon & Hazel Marie Bratton Rakes. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Paul McNeal Rakes.

She is survived by her daughters & son-in-law Beth Marinus of Wytheville, Va.; Katerina & Tim Blair of Ivanhoe, Va.; Tina Newman of Fries, Va.; sons & daughter-in-law Chuck & Robin Hodges of Peachtree City, Ga.; James Hodges & Jeff Newman both of Christiansburg,Va.; sister & brother-in-law Frankee & Dick Carrico of Woodlawn, Va.; sister-in-law Sally Rakes of Woodlawn, Va.; grandchildren Christie; Kayla; Timmy; Chelsa; Heather; Cory; Devon; Amber & Kelsey; great-grandchildren Dylan; Jordan; Hunter; Nolan; Tristen; Gracie & Haley; special friend Sue Hawks.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 7:00 pm in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Don Sunshine officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from five until service time at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
