Lillian Petty Kirby age 98 of Galax, Va. passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2007 in Beverly Blue Ridge Healthcare. Mrs. Kirby was born on February 28, 1909 in Carroll County, Va. to the late Elcine & Flora Goad Rakes. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Tom Kirby. She is survived by a daughter Betty Cox of Galax, Va.; sister Ola King of Martinsville, Va.; brother Mack Rakes of Martinsville, Va.; one granddaughter and three great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Friday, June 8, 2007 at 2:00 PM in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Elder Herbert Rutherford & Elder Harold Wilmouth officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
