Lilburn "Lee" Ellyson Wilson, 78, of McLeansville died Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the V.A. Hospital, Hospice Unit, Salisbury, NC after a short illness. Better known in Galax as Winnie Wilson.
Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Monday October 10, 2011 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery, Burlington Rd, Greensboro NC.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM Sunday October 9th at Forbis & Dick N. Elm Chapel.
Mr. Wilson was born December 9, 1932 in Galax VA to the late S. Victor Wilson and Lura Elizabeth Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was a loving husband, step-father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his son-in-law, Henry Bowman of Jacksonville, Fla. and daughter-in-law Sylvia Jobe of McLeansville. 3 Grandsons, Henry Lee Bowman (Stephanie) of Jacksonville, Fla., J. Brian Jobe (Jennifer), of Rural Hall, NC and Jason L Jobe (Amy) of McLeansville, 5 great Grandchildren, Lee Bowman (Nikki) and Stephen Bowman of Jacksonville, FL, Mac Jobe of Rural Hall, NC, Scarlett and Callie Jobe of McLeansville. NC. 2 Brothers, S Victor Wilson, Jr. of Hamptonville, NC, Glenn G Wilson (Loretta) of Galax, VA (Glenn is a retiree of Vaughan-Guynn) and 1 sister Rebecca Wilson of Galax Va.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilson is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Dell Whitaker Wilson, Stepdaughter, Barbara Bowman and Stepson, James "Jim" Jobe and sister Lillie Cooley.
Mr. Wilson is retired from Sports Promotions and Brian Doby Shell. Mr. Wilson is a member of the McLeansville Wildlife Club. He was a big sports fan.
The family would like to thank the V. A. Hospital, especially the Hospice Staff for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice Facility of ones choice.
