Lila Leone Barker age 81 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, March 16, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Barker was born on December 10, 1927 in Carroll County, Virginia to Friel F. and Cecil Lowe Rector. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Maxine Harder and two brothers, Ray Rector & Roger Rector. She is survived by her husband Merle Barker of Galax, Va.; daughter Sharon Barker of Galax, Va.; sons & daughters-in-law Donnie & Kathleen Barker; David Barker all of Galax, Va.; sisters Mable Adkins of Salem, Va.; Kathy Hawkins and Shirley Boyer both of Roanoke, Va.; sister-in-law Myrtle Rector of Front Royal, Va.; brother-in-law Edward Harder of California; five grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 2:00 pm in Blue Ridge Chapel Church with Rev. David Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 until 2:00 pm at Blue Ridge Chapel Church. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Twin County Hospice.
