Lewis Ray Leonard's Obituary
Lewis Ray Leonard age 83 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.
Mr. Leonard was born on January 16, 1933 in Grayson County, Virginia to Otie Lawrence and Charlotte Bartlett Leonard. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ellen Dillon Leonard; sister Louise Cooley; brothers Thomas Leonard; Gene Leonard and Bobby Leonard. He was followed in death by his sister Emma Lucille Carr.
He proudly served his country in the US Army.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Lora and Greg Bond; Lisa and Phillip Hawks all of Galax, Virginia; five grandchildren Daniel Semones; Christian Semones; Ashley Leath; Jessica Leath; Cory Leath; five great-grandchildren Montana Melton; Ella Leath; Turner Leath; Aden Leath and Ari Leath; sisters and brothers-in-law Gaye Hale; Lillian and Harold McMillan; Betty Jennings; Carolyn Cox all of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Ted Bartlett and the Rev. Chuck Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the McKenzie Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the McKenzie Cemetery, C/O Buford Wilson, 960 Cranberry Road, Galax, Virginia 24333.
