Lessie Mae Bowers Brown age 82 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, June 6, 2011 at her home.

Mrs. Brown was born in Grayson County, Virginia on February 8, 1929 to Lawton S. and Della Smith Bowers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Camet Eugene Brown, Sr.; sister Frances Bowers Sawyers; brothers Samuel Bowers; James "Did" Bowers; Robert "Boogie" Bowers; Arnold "Buckum" Bowers and Hobert Bowers.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Betty and Carlie Dean Lowe, Sr. of Low Gap, North Carolina; Linda L. and Lester Vaught of Galax, Virginia; Margaret and Johnny Poe of Piney Creek, North Carolina; Norma Jean and Eddie Chambers of Galax, Virginia; son Camet "Gene" Brown, Jr. of Summerfield, North Carolina; grandchildren Jennifer McMillan; Angie Haynes; Dee McMillan; Delena McMillan Stamper; Tammy Lowe Adams; Junior Lowe and Payton Vaught; great-grandchildren Katie and Jacob Adams; Jada and Trevor Lowe; Bryan Oakley; Nick Sharpe; Abby Keesler; Aaron Stamper; Brady and Payton Vaught, Jr.; sisters and brother-in-law Minnie Lee and Virgil Cox of Gibsonville, North Carolina; Shelby Jean Edwards of Galax, Virignia; half-sisters Mary Ann Alley; Brenda Sue Spence and Janie Lou Davis; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Jack Mooring officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from six until eight at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Friends may also call at the home at anytime.
