Leslie Virginia Edwards Sherwood age 71 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2009 in Twin County Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Sherwood was born in Kings Mountain, North Carolina on March 31, 1938 to Edgar John & Minnie Sophia Dixon Edwards. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a step-grandson Ricky Lee Simpkins, Jr..
She is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law Leslie Lucille & Byrd J. Briggs, Jr. of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Lynda Leigh Louise & Ricky Lee Simpkins of Galax, Va.; step-grandchildren Shawn Buckingham, Tara Jones, Amber Rosbury of Grand Rapids, Michigan & Arlie Jason Simpkins of Fries, Va.; sister Madalene Jean Cole of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 15, 2009 at 1:30 pm in Galax First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Cas Horton; Associate Pastor Angie Lineberry; Minister Leslie Lucille Briggs and Minister Lynda L.L. Simpkins officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from seven until nine at Galax First Assembly of God Church.
