Lena Mildred Getzinger age 76 of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away December 24, 2019 at Baypointe Rehabilitation Center in Virginia Beach. She was born April 18, 1943 in Valdosta, Georgia the daughter of Gwyn Anderson and Ruby (Trimble) Anderson. She was a 1962 graduate of Fries High School and valedictorian. Millie attended college and became an LPN. On February 26, 1966 she married Raymond Getzinger in Sparta, North Carolina.

Millie was a life-long member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and professed a faith in Jesus. She enjoyed reading, quilting, crafting, and cooking. She was a member in good-standing for over 20 years in the New River Pioneer Chapter of the DAR, Grayson County.

Millie is survived by her husband of 53 years, Raymond Getzinger of the home; a daughter, Andrena Farria of Dallas, TX; a son, Clinton Getzinger of Virginia Beach; a daughter-in-law, Charlene Fenn of New Bern, NC; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Fenn of NC, Sandra Lilly of New Bern, NC, Gabriel Getzinger of Dallas, TX, Andromeda Lilly of Virginia Beach, Nicole Murray of Virginia Beach, Jasmine Farria of Dallas, TX, and Virginia Farria of Dallas, TX; nine great-grandchildren, Chandon Fenn, Alexis Lilly, Amari James, Arionna James, Amir James, Braydon Lilly,  Zeinah Morrow, Dana Manuel and Daja Manuel; one sister, Sonya Farmer of Galax; three brothers, William Anderson (Barbara) of Portland, TN, Virgil Anderson (Amy) of San Antonio, TX, John Anderson of Galax; two brothers-in-law, Don Getzinger (Jodi) of Twin Falls, ID, Norman Getzinger (Pat) of Moses Lake, WA; two sisters-in-law, Marjie Getzinger of Moses Lake, WA, Cherlyn Dermody (Martin) of Seattle, WA; two aunts, Hilda Peake of Chilhowie, Christine Anders of Galax; two uncles, Kenneth Anderson (Martha) of Galax, Harold Rankin of Ocala, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Allen Getzinger, a granddaughter, Paris Jones, a great-granddaughter, Zoey Jones, a sister Kathleen Anderson, and a brother, Roger Anderson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 30, 2019 at 2 pm at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home with Pastor Austin Goodwin officiating. Interment will be in Providence Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 pm at the funeral home
