Good evening gang! It is with a heavy heart that I write this post tonight. We lost a very dear friend yesterday at the tender age of 48. Lee Ann (Kegley) Dowell was born the youngest of three daughters to Buck and Estelle Kegley. I first met Lee Ann in 1969 when she was just 3 and full of life. Many Sundays after church I would go home with her family and spend my Sunday afternoons at their house having lunch and just hanging out with the family and what a great family they were. For many years they were my 2nd family. Buck and Estelle treated me like one of their own. Over the past several years Lee Ann has been stricken with many afflictions and medical set backs, including a long bout with breast cancer. Recently she relocated to Virginia to be closer to her youngest daughter and grandchildren. Yesterday, God decided that she had struggled long enough and his garden became that much more beautiful as he picked another rose. The news of Lee Ann passing has been difficult for us to understand and accept. It's just not suppose to be this way. Today, Buck and Estelle are saying good-bye to a daughter. Yvonne Smith and Brenda Marx are saying good-bye to a sister; Selena and Amber are saying good-bye to a mother and the grandchildren are saying a final good bye. For those of us that knew Lee Ann, we also say a farewell and god speed. That home that we sang about as kids is now in view and this journey is over. So...Go Rest High on that Mountain now Lee Ann. Girl your work on earth is done, go rest high on that mountain. love for the father and the son...Look for me Lee Ann, cause I will be there too...
