Dr. Laura Ellen Mitchell La Rue age 70 of Fries, Virginia passed away Wednesday September 28, 2022 in Pulaski, Virginia.

Dr. La Rue was born in Grayson County, Virginia on December 29, 1951 to Wayne Whitesell and Margaret Frances Rakes Mitchell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Roscoe (Sonny) La Rue, Sr. and a brother James Vincent Mitchell.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law James Wayne (J.W.) and Heather La Rue of Max Meadows, Virginia; Edward Lee and Megan La Rue of Pulaski, Virginia; four grandchildren Addison La Rue; Gibbson LaRue; Kendall La Rue and Christian La Rue; sister Lola Frances Mitchell Coleman of Fries, Virginia; special niece and husband Margo and Jason Taylor; special great-niece Payton Taylor; special great-nephew Luke Mitchell Taylor; numerous relatives and special friends.

The funeral service will be held Friday at 1:00 PM in the Stevens Creek United Methodist Church with Martha Luper officiating.  Burial will follow in the Atkins Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Stevens Creek United Methodist Church. Flowers will be appreciated or donations be made to the Radford University Waldron School of Nursing Program, The School of Nursing Scholarship Fund or to your local fire department in memory of Dr. Laura La Rue.
