Larry Edgar Kirby age 82 of Independence, Virginia passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Kirby was born in Grayson County, Virginia on September 24, 1934 to Edgar Kyle and Rose Ella Wilson Kirby.

He proudly served his country in the US Marines.

He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Carla and Edward Norman; Edna and Rodney Vaughan; Shelby and Robbie Webb all of Fries, Virginia; Donna Stone of Independence, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Delmas and Linda Kirby, Sr. of Fries, Virginia; Allen and Sheri Kirby of Independence, Virginia; sister and brother-in-law Rita Jane and Frankie Higgins of Elk Creek, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Marie Kirby of Galax, Virginia; sisters-in-law Gladese Kirby of Galax, Virginia; Ella Mae Kirby of Fries, Virginia; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Fries Church of God of Prophecy with the Rev. Tony Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery with Military Rites by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from six until eight at the Fries Church of God of Prophecy.
