Larry Dean Johnson, Sr. age 74 of Galax, Virginia passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023 at his home.

Larry was born on August 23, 1949 in Mt. Airy, North Carolina to Marvin C. and Hazel White Johnson.

He proudly served his country in the US Army.

He is survived by his wife Jean Fielder Johnson of Galax, Virginia; sons and daughter-in-law Larry, Jr. and Brenda Johnson of Dobson, North Carolina; Andy Johnson of Galax, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law Jim and Lydia Johnson of Dobson, North Carolina; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Margaret and Tim Seller; Mary Adkins (Roger); one niece and five nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the First Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the First Methodist Church.
