Larry Gene Chappell age 63 of Galax, Virginia passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012 at his home.

Larry was born in Carroll County, Virginia on April 22, 1949 to Ernest and Inis Edmonds Chappell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law Thelma and Joe Roberts.

He is survived by his wife Judy Chappell of Galax, Virginia; daughters and sons-in-law Sherry and Herman Bailey; Jennifer and Mark Funk all of Fries, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Mike and Michelle Chappell of Matthews, North Carolina; Warren Derek and Crystal Chappell of Hillsville, Virginia; grandchildren Brooke Frye, Easton Chappell, Avery Chappell, Derek Chappell, Allison Funk and Lura Funk; brother and sister-in-law Leonard and Ida Chappell of Woodlawn, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Monday, April 30, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Andy Edmonds and Pastor Scott Flippin officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from six until eight at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Gospel Chapel Church.
