Lala B. (Smith) Spurlin born on May 22, 1925 in Galax, Virginia to the late Emmett And Sarah Davis Smith, passed away Thursday October 30, 2014 at Waddell Nursing & Rehab Center at the age of 89.

Lala was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was a dear friend to many. She was a member of the Meadow Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Wesley J. Spurlin and two sons Dale Spurlin and Jr. Spurlin.

Surviving are three sons John Wayne Spurlin of Charlotte, North Carolina; Kenneth L. Spurlin and Ruth of Trenton, Illinois; and Danny D. Spurlin of Galax, Virginia. Three loving grandchildren Steven Spurlin of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Amy Spurlin of Galax, Virginia, Ashley Rice of Hillsville, Virginia.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Elder Herbert Rutherford and Elder Pete Hawks officiating. A private burial will follow in the Crab Creek Church Cemetery in Alleghany County, North Carolina. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
