Tyler Carico, Jr.
March 28, 1931 – March 4, 2022
Pastor Khy Tyler (K.T.) Carico, Jr. (90) passed away on March 4, 2022. K.T. was born March 28, 1931 to parents Khy Tyler Senior and Grace Mae Carrico. KT. graduated from Coal Creek High School in 1948 and then went on to serve in the United States Navy until 1952. On January 14 th , 1954, K.T. married the love of his life, Della (Dell) Irene Fender.
From car salesman to newspaper reporter, K.T. unselfishly provided for his family. His final venture involved a local trading paper called the Trading News. The Trading News was founded in 1968 and illustrated K.T.'s humor and imagination and brought a chuckle to its loyal audience. But if you called to leave an ad on Sunday, you would hear "No ads on Sunday." K.T. believed that Sundays belonged to the Lord and he could often be found preaching in a local church. His faith was strong and he loved to share it with his community.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Survivors include his brother Russell Carrico (Margaret) of Richmond, Virginia; sister Arlowene Garland of Warsaw, Virginia; daughter Debra Hall (Mike) of Elk Creek, Virginia; and sons, Khy Carico (Beth) of Galax, Virginia and Gary Carico (Sherry) of Mt. Airy, North Carolina;eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. The family will receive guests from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM with services starting at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to your local church or food pantry.
