Kenneth Wayne Phipps, 66, of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012 at his home. He was born Sunday, August 4, 1946 in Galax, Virginia to the late Price Clifford Phipps and Pearl Lewis Phipps. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Harold and David Phipps.

He is survived by his wife Jannette Joy Phipps of the home; daughter and son-in-law Tanya Phipps Taylor and Marty Taylor of Mt Airy, North Carolina; step daughter Tabatha Methvin Kirkland of Huntsville, Texas; step son and step daughter-in-law: Benny & Terri Methvin of Magnolia, Texas; grandchildren Braeden Taylor, Kasen Taylor, Aaron Kirkland, Joshua Kirkland, Ashlea St.John, Marissa Methvin; sister and brother-in-law: (Lucy) Linda Cox and Bill Cox of Galax, Virginia; special nieces and nephews: Sheila Wilson, Pete Cox, April Simmons, Zach Phipps; special cousin Bobby Phipps.

The funeral service will be held Saturday December 22, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Spurlin and Rev. Sam Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the Edmonds Cemetery, Ennice, North Carolina. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time at the church
