Kelly Elmo Vass age 96 of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away Monday, April 13, 2015 in the Waddell Nursing Home.

Mr. Vass was born in Carroll County, Virginia on March 23, 1919 to Thomas Jefferson and Lelia Allen Vass. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Freda Vass; sister Jewel Hall and brothers Swanson Vass and Carlos Vass.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Lelia and Frank Edwards; Linda and Roger Burcham all of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren and spouses Greg and Paige Edwards; Shelley and Chris Goad; Christy and Richard Flanagan; Kevin and Erin Burcham; seven great-grandchildren Cullen and Carson Edwards; Tori and Cameron Goad; Logan and Emmery Flanagan and Madelyn Burcham; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The funeral service will be held Thursday April 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Charles Bunn and Elder Edward Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Independence Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Flowers will be appreciated but in lieu of them the family request donations be made to the Independence Cemetery Fund, C/O Gene Bunn, 5281 Stable Road, Fancy Gap, Virginia 24328.
