Kathleen Lura Higgins' Obituary
Kathleen Lura Smythers Higgins age 93 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the Waddell Nursing Home.
Mrs. Higgins was born on July 27, 1922 in Carroll County, Virginia to Wiley Marvin and Gertrude Delp Smythers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Heath Worth Higgins.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Beverly and Juan Rios of Galax, Virginia; Rebecca and Richard Fields of Johnson City, Tennessee; granddaughter Whitney Mugler Munroe; great-granddaughter Evelyn Brooke Munroe; niece Mary Jo Wolfe and nephew Roger Smythers.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the First Baptist Church,1024 East Stuart Drive, Galax, Virginia 24333.
