J.W. Leonard age 71 of Fries, Virginia passed away Monday, April 22, 2019 at his home.

J.W. was born in Grayson County, Virginia on November 30, 1947 to Wesley Randolph and Gloria Virginia Reynolds Leonard. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law Mary Kay Leonard and a brother-in-law Odell Shupe.

He is survived by a daughter Janice Lynn Leonard of Pearisburg, Virginia; two grandchildren Isaac Lee Payne and Madeline Grace Payne; sisters and brothers-in-law Brenda Shupe of Madison, North Carolina; Bobbie and David Shupe; Robin and Lynn Shupe all of Fries, Virginia; brothers and sister-in-law David Leonard of Fries, Virginia; Kenneth and Gina Young of Fancy Gap, Virginia; several nieces and nephews; two special uncles Don Leonard and Frank Leonard.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 PM in the Atkins Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Ray Lynch and the Rev. Bill Shupe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from six until eight at the Atkins Memorial United Methodist Church.
