Junior Paul Bowman age 74 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at his home.

Mr. Bowman was born in Carroll County, Virginia on September 8, 1937 to Paul Jones Bowman and Mittie Coulson Bowman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson Logan Bowman and brothers Everett, Darrell and Donald Bowman.

He is survived by his wife Betty Sue Bowman of the home; daughter and son-in-law Vanetta and Jon Delp of Galax, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Clayton and Tami Bowman of Woodlawn, Virginia; Marvin Ray and Jeri Bowman of Ogden, Kansas; Alvin Wayne Bowman of Woodlawn, Virginia; Michael and Sandra Bowman of Spencer, Virginia; step-son and his wife James and Joyce Collins of Galax, Virginia; sisters and brother-in-law Thelma Bunn of Hillsville, Virginia; Barbara Wittensoldner of Ohio; Velda Jones of Austinville, Virginia; Margie and Clifford Byrd of High Point, North Carolina; brothers and sisters-in-law Charles and Reva Bowman of Austinville, Virginia; James Dean (J.D.) and Elza Bowman of Ararat, Virginia; Bernard (Tom) and Judy Bowman of Austinville, Virginia; Elder Ronald Bowman of Austinville, Virginia; twelve grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Eddie Bailey and Rev. Don Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
