June Marie Douglas age 70 of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018 in the Forsyth Medical Center.

June was born in Galax, Virginia on March 10, 1948 to Luther and Grace Jones Woodel. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Dean Douglas, two sisters and four brothers.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Patti McFadden; Christina and Jerry Parnell, Jr.; Vicki Alley all of Galax, Virginia; sister Elaine Higgins of Galax, Virginia; Elizabeth Cooke of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; brother Ed Woodel of Sparta, North Carolina; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. John Paul Nunley and the Rev. Jimmy Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in the Bishops Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
