June Catherine Kerr age 91 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, July 5, 2010 in Twin County Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Kerr was born on June 21, 1919 in Wadestown, West Virginia to Frank and Ada Martin Clovis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Kerr; great-granddaughter Holland; sister Betty Carpenter.

Having received her master degree from WVU, June taught school in the Monongalia County School System (Blacksville, Pentress and Wadestown) for fifty-one years, the latter years assuming the title of Principal.

She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and an avid WVU sports supporter. At one she time very active in the 4-H Club in the Wadestown area and a member of Wadestown Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Dr. Larry and Jan Kerr of Friendsville, Tenn.; daughter Martha (Marty) Kerr of Morgantown, West Va.; grandchildren Drs. Clay and Staci Stalcup ; Kelli and Chad Wilson; Kati and Jack Carley; Ryan Kerr and fiancee' Rachel all of Knoxville, Tennessee; great-grandchildren Seth and Aiden Stalcup;her beloved dog Ally;and brother-in-law Bruce Carpenter of New Carlisle, Ohio

The funeral service will be held Friday, July 9, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Wadestown Methodist Church with Pastor Rose Saunders officiating. Internment will follow at Olive Cemetery in Pentress, West Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 until service time at the church.
