Julie Melissa Garbutt Kutzen age 64 of Galax, Virginia passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025 at the Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.

Julie was born on June 3, 1961 in Atlanta, Georgia to William and Peggy James Garbutt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Glenn Alton Waddell Caldwell; two sisters April Fields and Kathy Griffin.

She is survived by her husband Larry Kutzen of Galax, Virginia; daughter Melissa Caldwell of Fancy Gap, Virginia; son Jesse Caldwell of Bristol, Tennessee and a half-brother Chip Clark.

Julie's body will be cremated and there will be no services at this time.
