Josie I. Stoneman Combs, age 87, of Galax, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2009 at the Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax. Mrs. Combs was born August 11, 1922 in Carroll County, Virginia to Friel & Odessa Hill Stoneman. In addition to her parents Mrs. Combs is preceded in death by her husband: Arnold Noah Combs and infant son Kyle Raymond Combs.

Mrs. Combs is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law: Mary & Bill Lundy of Woodlawn; Muriel & Junior Burnette and Peggy & Dannie Burnette all of Galax, VA and JoAnne & Charles Hale of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina; two sons &n daughters-in-law: Gerald & Reva Combs of Elkin, North Carolina and Kenneth & Phyllis Combs of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; sister Mary S.Riggs of Alamogordo, New Mexico; eleven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 3:00 pm in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Kevin Fiorini and Elder Edward Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from one until service time at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
