Joseph A. Yow, Jr., 85, of Galax passed away Friday in the Wheatland Hills Retirement Center; Hillsville, VA. Mr. Yow was born August 15, 1927 to Joseph A. & Nina Elizabeth Dull Yow in Forsyth County, North Carolina.

He is survived by his wife: Laura H. Yow of the home; two daughters & sons-in-law: Diane and Randy Reeves of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Tina and Mike Wilcox of Woodlawn, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law: Robert G. and Dolores Yow of Galax; three grandchildren: Shannon Richey, Andrea Khan and Brittany Yow. Four sisters and brothers-in-law: Dorothy and Curtis Snow; Doris and Delmar Lawson; Annie Ruth and Bill Atkins all of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Catherine Butner of Lexington, North Carolina; one brother and sister-in-law Lawrence and Joan Yow also of Winston-Salem, North Carolina as well as six great grandchildren also survive.

The funeral service will be held Monday November 12, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, Galax, VA with Rev. John Grimm officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until time for the service.

Graveside service and burial will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 3250 High Point Road, Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
