It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph E. Soles, 74, of Fries, Virginia on July 5, 2025.

Joseph was born on August 5, 1950, in Whiteville, North Carolina. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a respected member of the community and his church, First Baptist Church of Galax. He proudly served as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 in the United States Coast Guard for 26 years. Commendations include Coast Guard Marksman Pistol Shot Ribbon; Coast Guard Rifleman Ribbon; Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendation; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; and Navy/Marine Overseas Service Ribbon.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda Soles, his sister Peggy Shaw and brother in law, Virgil Shaw,  his daughter Roxanne Pemberton and son in law David Pemberton; his son Steven J. Paul,  his step daughter Carol Cornell and son in law Dennis Cornell, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

A service will be held at First Baptist Church of Galax located at 1024 E. Stuart Drive, Galax, Virginia 24333 on July 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
