Joseph Wayne Sapp, Sr. age 72 of Fries, Virginia passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016 in the VA Medical Center in Salem, Virginia.

Mr. Sapp was born in Ashe County, North Carolina on July 9,1943 to Raymond and Dola Woods Sapp.

He proudly served his country in the US Army.

In addition to his mother Dola Woods Sapp of Fries, Virginia he is survived by his wife Phyllis Sapp of Fries, Virginia; sons Joseph Wayne Sapp, Jr. Cedar Bluff, Virginia; Terry Allen Sapp of Fries, Virginia; grandchildren Eric Sapp and Amber Anderson-Sapp; great-grandchildren Jace Gray Gravley and Kelley Gravley; brothers and sisters-in-law Ralph and Josephine Sapp of Boone, North Carolina; Robert and Darnell Sapp of Fries, Virginia; Roger Sapp of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law and spouses Beryl Jean Leonard; Mary Edith & Roy Hyatt all of Fries, Virginia; Debbie and Edwin Tompkins of Galax, Virginia.

A graveside service will be held Friday, July 8, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Fries, Virginia with the Rev. Danny Tolley officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Friday from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. The family request no visitation at the home please.
