Joseph Ralph Reeves, Sr. age 99 of Galax, Virginia passed away Saturday in the Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mr. Reeves was born in Grayson County, Virginia on January 4, 1926 to Roscoe Preston and Gussie Shumate Reeves. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle Elizabeth Fuller Reeves and a granddaughter Melissa Baity.

Mr. Reeves proudly served his country in the US Army.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law Joe and Dorothy Reeves, Jr. of Booneville, North Carolina; William and Sandra Reeves of Woodlawn, Virginia; five grandchildren Kevin Reeves; Tracy Reeves; Brian Reeves (Lori); Jason Reeves; Loretta Adkins (Dan); ; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 PM in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Carrico officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
