Joseph Nicholas Felts, Jr. (Nicky) age 71 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015 in the Trinity Mission of Hillsville.
A descendant, through the Caldwell family, of early founders of Galax, he was the son of Joseph Nicholas Felts, Sr. and Nell Caldwell Felts. He was born on March 23, 1944 in Mt. Airy, North Carolina.
He is survived by his sisters Hattie Bob Felts Wilson of Laurinburg, North Carolina; Bette Felts McGee of Flat Ridge, Virginia; life long friend Judy Carson; niece Dawn Wilson Smith; great-niece Grayson Smith; great-nephew Sawyer Smith.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 4:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Edwin Stamper officiating. Burial will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 3:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Caldwell Cemetery Fund, C/O Dr. Anne Herndon, 609 Friar Tuck Road, Winston-Salem, North Carolina 27104.
