Joseph Frazier Holderfield age 80 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday, September 21, 2012 in the Waddell Nursing Home.

Mr. Holderfield was born on August 23, 1932 in Galax, Virginia to Jim and Ina Lyons Holderfield. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Alice Holderfield and grandson Thomas Joseph Holderfield.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Randy and Jenny Holderfield; Jeff and Patti Holderfield all of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren and spouses Joseph Holderfield; Jay and Suzanne Holderfield; Dianna and David Marshall; Laura and Ray Edmonds; Jacob Holderfield; great-granddaughter Kate Ann Holderfield.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 23, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Caroll Lineberry, Randy Warden, Lawrence Warden; Wayne Bailey and Steve McCollum officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 PM until time for the funeral service at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Oldtown Lodge #68. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Hebron Cemetery Fund C/O Randy Holderfield 216 Mallory Drive Galax, Virginia 24333.
