Johnny Lee Payne

Johnny Lee Payne age 74 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday April 15, 2026 in the Northern Surry Hospital in Mt. Airy, North Carolina.

Johnny was born on February 18, 1952 in Pulaski, Virginia to Albert and Nora Peak Payne Love.

He is survived by his daughter Heather Walls (Greg Leonard) of Fries, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law JJ and Monica Payne of Woodlawn, Virginia; four grandchildren Jacie Payne; Danielle Walls; Andrew Walls and Luke Walls; two great-grandchildren Phoenix Mejia and Charlie Mejia; sisters and brothers-in-law Patsy and Daymon Edwards of Carroll County, Virginia; Becky and Randy Rippey of Fancy Gap, Virginia; Tooky Hitt of Spotsylvania, Virginia; Lisa and Charlie Delp of Galax, Virginia; brothers and sisters-in-law Larry and Gennie Payne of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina; Michael and Pam Payne of Galax, Virginia; Albert and Ruby Payne; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday May 2, 2026 at Blue Ridge Fellowship Church from 4:00PM until 6:00PM.
