John Wayne Smith's Obituary
John Wayne Smith age 76 of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday, October l, 2017 in the Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.
Mr. Smith was born on July 12, 1941 in Carroll County, Virginia to Montie Curtis and Sadie Mae Lawson Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Phyllis Smith and a sister Ella Mae Smith.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith were married on November 20, 1964.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years and 10 months, Plina Smith of Galax, Virginia; daughter Patsy Blevins of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren and spouse Emily Grace and Corey Glessner of Blue Ridge, Virginia; Adam Wayne Blevins of Bluefield, Virginia; great-granddaughter Adrienne Glessner; sister and brother-in-law Annie Ruth and Jimmy Green of Pfafftown, North Carolina.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 3:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Garry Adams and Pastor James Cowley officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
