John Edward Simpson, 61, of Galax passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023 at the home of his son in Fries. John was born in Galax, Virginia on June 19, 1961 to the late Jess Edward Simpson and Agnes Vernelle Littreal Simpson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Marylee Simpson and brother Robbie Simpson.

John served his country in the National Guard.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Morgan and Bryan Jennings of Galax; son and daughter-in-law Jesse and Sonya Simpson of Fries; grandson Trenton Simpson; adopted children Melissa Ward and Amanda Felts, and his work family at the Galax Life Center.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with J. R. Bowers officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Church Cemetery, Fries, VA. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time for the service in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel. Military rites will be conducted at the gravesite by the Grayson VFW Post 7726.
