John William Reeves age 66 of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.

John was born in Woodlawn, Virginia (Carroll County) on March 6, 1952 to John Easter and Myrtle Brown Reeves. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother Franklin Reeves.

He proudly served his country in the US Air Force.

He is survived by his mother Myrtle Brock of Woodlawn, Virginia; wife Yvonne Reeves, children Thyeekai Smalls of Charleston, South Carolina;  Tyonda  Ravanell, Hans Reeves, Michelle Reeves; Dominque Reeves all of Galax, Virginia; John William Reeves, Jr. of Independence, Virginia; Maurice Reeves of Temple, Texas; Javon Reeves of Providence, Rhode Island; Sgt. Rochelle Reeves of Kaiserslautern, Germany; sisters Barbara Trussell and Angela Jackson both of Woodlawn, Virginia; Lansing Alexander of Galax , Virginia; brother Marlin Anthony Reeves of Roanoke, Virginia; thirty grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, May 4, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Elder Marvin Lockett, Brother Ben Jackson, the Rev. David Holderfield, the Rev. Tony Reeves and the Rev. Marlin Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethany Cemetery with Military Rites by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
