John Edward Maxwell age 80 of Galax, Virginia passed away Saturday, July 10,2010 in Grayson Nursing and Rehab Center.
Mr. Maxwell was born in Grayson County, Va. on June 27, 1930 to Calvin and Ella Jennings Maxwell.
He is survived by his wife Orvillie Maxwell of Galax, Va.; sons John Maxwell, Jr.of Salem, New Jersey, Bobby Maxwell, Larry Maxwell, Raymond Maxwell, Timothy Maxwell, Lacey Maxwell all of Brooklyn, New York; Kenneth Maxwell of Bronx, New York; step-daughter Maxine Cox of Galax, Va.; sisters Carrie M. Powell of Salisbury, N.C.; Irene Brooks of Spencer, N.C.; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:00 pm in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Overseer Benjamin Brogdon, Jr. and Rev. Raymond Brown, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Oldtown Cemetery. The family will receive freinds Wednesday evening from six until eight at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
