John Daniel Isom age 90 of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 in the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.

Mr. Isom was born in Carroll County, Virginia on January 18, 1924 to John W. and Ella Wright Isom. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ada Inez Isom.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Nancy and Virgil Smith of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; Debbie and Brent Melton of Woodlawn, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Loyde D. and Linda Isom of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; granddaughter and husband April and Michael Heiney of the home; great-grandsons Mason Scott Heiney and baby to be Alex Daniel Heiney; sisters and brothers-in-law Mildred and James Nelson of Galax, Virginia; Mary Johnson of Ennice, North Carolina; Nellie and Starlin Jennings of Speedwell, Virginia; brother Delmar Isom of Wytheville, Virginia; sister-in-law Pauline Isom of Galax, Virginia; several special nieces and nephews; many, many friends.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Hebron Church of Christ with Sammy Burnette and Billy Burnette officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Cranberry. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
