Estil Hale, a former business owner and operator of a family business, the Star Service Center went to be with his Heavenly Father, October 3, 2018. He passed away at home with his family and friends.
He was born on May 5, 1933 in Galax, Virginia to Eugene (C.E.) and Forest Carrico Hale. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Anne Morris Hale and by a brother Donald Z. Hale.
He is survived by one son Douglas Hale of Galax, Virginia; one sister Sandra Hale Crouch of Gastonia, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friend Joyce Wright.
Estil served his country in the US Army in Panama from 1953-1955. He became a member of the Masonic Lodge on October 15, 1968 a Master Mason on November 14, 1968 and was inducted into the Shriners International on May 1, 1971 just a few days short of earning his 50 year pin. He was also a member of the Fairview Ruritan Club.
Estil had a passion for all types of recreation, cycling, flying his airplane, golf, hiking, riding his motorcycle and traveling. He attended Snow Hill Baptist Church.
At his request his body will be cremated and the family will receive friends Saturday from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home with a private burial for the family. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital, Carroll Grayson Shriner's Club, P.O. Box 666 Galax, Virginia 24333 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
