John Ellis (Shagg) McKinney age 80 of Independence, Virginia passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.
Mr. McKinney was born in Grayson County, Virginia on November 5, 1937 to John Ernest and Mattie Mae McKinney.
He is survived by his wife Bertha June McKinney; daughter and son-in-law Beth McKinney-Parsons and Brandon all of Independence, Virginia; sisters and brother-in-law Lessie and Lee Roy Parsons of Independence, Virginia; Betsy McKinney of Galax, Virginia; one grandson Christopher McKinney of Independence, Virginia; numerous friends.
At the request of Mr. McKinney the service will be private. The family respectfully request no flowers or no food please.
