John Bishop Davis' Obituary
John B. Davis age 93 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 at Twin County Regional Hospital.
John was born on September 15, 1916 in Galax, Virginia. He was a graduate of Galax High School and became a member of First Christian Church during his teen years. He was a Boy Scout and became an assistant Scoutmaster under the Rev. A.C. Meadows. During World War II he served as a Pharmacist's Mate, Third Class in the U.S. Navy. John was the longtime co-owner of the Blue Ridge Grill on Main Street.
He was preceded in death by his mother Emma L. Davis, his wife, Ann Busic Davis, daughter Betty June Davis, and a brother J.K. Davis.
He is survived by his children and their spouses Billy John & Kathy Davis of Culpeper, Va., Jack B. & Angie Davis of Galax, Va., Thomas Davis of Renton, Wa., Susan & Johnny Johnson of Leesville, La., Charles & Temple Davis of Galax, Va., Anita & Jeff Sedlak of Orange, Oh., and Bobby (Moe) & Denise Davis of Galax, Va.; grandchildren Mark Davis, Tanya Ayers, Jason Davis, Charles, Benjamin and Carrie Sedlak; step-granddaughter Crystal Anderson; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 2:00 pm in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. James Cowley officiating. Burial will follow in Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 pm until service time at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the First Christian Church 402 North Jefferson Street Galax, Va. 24333.
