John William Buchanan, Jr, age 86, of Galax, died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at his home. He was born March 6, 1922 in West Virginia to John William and Pearl Wilson Buchanan. Mr. Buchanan is survived by his wife, Evelyn Q. Buchanan, of the home, daughter, Patricia May, Bradenton, Florida, daughter-in-law, Carolyn V. Buchanan, Galax, brother, Wallace Buchanan, Maryland, sister, Rebecca Buchanan Glassmeyer, Detroit, MI and several nieces & nephews.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2008, in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with burial to follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. Military rites wil be held by the Hillsville VFW Post #1115. Officiating minister will be the Rev. Woynal Smythers. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home, Galax, VA.
