John Thomas Bond age 85 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, December 21, 2015 in the Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mr. Bond was born on October 8, 1930 in Carroll County, Virginia to Edmond Dennis and Sadie Hazel Reynolds Bond. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Ann Lee Bottomley Bond; and two brothers Charles Sanford Bond and Edmond D. Bond, Jr..

He is survived by his wife Sibyl McGrady Bond of Galax, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Rodney Kerwin and Tina Bond of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina; step-daughter and husband Col. Lori and Chuck Walden of Decula, Georgia; sisters and brother-in-law Dora and James Vass of Hillsville, Virginia; Sally Hall of Sylvatus, Virginia; brother and sister- in-law Conrad and Pauline Bond of Pilot, Virginia; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, December 27, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Myron Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in the Bishops Chapel Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
