John William (Bill) Leonard, 63, of Fries, VA passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born to John Henderson Leonard and Virginia Ruth Taylor Leonard in Carroll County, Virginia on September 30, 1949.
He was preceded in death by his father, his wife Norma Jean Leonard; brothers Bobby Leonard and Jimmy Leonard.

He is survived by his mother Virginia Ruth Leonard of Galax; daughter and son-in-law: Angela & Brandon Jones of Galax, Virginia; sisters and brothers-in-law: Liz and Otey Rector of Galax, Virginia; Thelma and William Barr of Hillsville, Virginia and Kathy and Stanley Carter of Galax, Virginia; two grandchildren Adreanna Jones and MaKayla Jones along with several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, November 16, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Cliffview Church of God with Pastors Ron Hill and Don Fox officiating. Interment will follow in the Leonard Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home in Galax.
