Joel Lovenance Brown, 61, of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 in Duke Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina. Joel was born December 24, 1953 to the late Alfred Gene Brown and Eunice Riggins Brown in West Virginia.

Joel is survived by daughter Joyel Coletrain of Charlotte, North Carolina; sons Terrence Mazon of Galax, Virginia; Lachelle Mazon of Huntsville, Alabama; Josh Coletrain of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren Mariyan Green and Asir Green; sister Twila Brown of Mount Airy, North Carolina; brothers and sisters-in-law: Alfred D. and Marilyn Brown of Youngstown,Ohio; Vincent and Barbara Brown of Galax, Virginia. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Fairview Baptist, 3543 Skyline Highway, Galax, Virginia with Rev. Michael King officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 AM until service time. Interment will be in the Glades Memorial Cemetery.
