Joe Reid Edwards, 81, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Waddell Nursing Home, Galax, VA. Mr. Edwards was born May 8, 1931 in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Iver Edwards and Ola Thompson Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Edwards.

He is survived by brother & wife Billy and Velda Edwards of Galax; sisters-in-law Shirley DeZern and Ina Lowe both of Galax, Virginia; nephews and spouses: Sonny and Sandy Edwards; Joe D. and Tammy Edwards; Douglas Edwards; Craig DeZern and Grant DeZern.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Hillcrest Baptist Church with burial in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM until service time at the church.

Military rites will be conducted by the Grayson VFW Post #7726.
