Joan Spencer Carico, age 77, of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday April 1, 2022 in Forsyth Medical Center.

Joan was born on April 8, 1944 in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Richard and Lillie Mae Hall Farmer. She was also preceded in death by her husband Ray Spencer, as well as thirteen siblings.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Richard and Cindy Dunn of Mechanicsville, VA; daughter Sharon Rebecca Dunn of Galax, VA; sister Belva Durell of CA; sister and brother-in-law Doris and Tom Norton of TN; grandchildren and spouses Rev. Lyndsey and Lauren Dunn of Roanoke, VA, Rev. Jacob and Brittany Dunn or Earleysville, VA, Anna and Jonathan Sanders of Norfolk, VA; great grandchildren Malachi, Adelaide, Everly, Liam, Atha, Isla, and Eastyn Dunn; special friend Sally Rakes; several nieces and nephews; and the Cliffview Church of God Family.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday April 5, 2022 at 2:00PM in the Cliffview Church of God with Rev. Jackie Poe and Rev. Richard Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday April 4, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the church.
