Jimmie Lee Cornett age 85 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday July 26, 2022 in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital.

Mr. Cornett was born on September 6, 1936 in Grayson County, Virginia to Archie and Edith Phibbs Cornett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lois Robertson Cornett and his brother Junior  "June" Allen Cornett.

He proudly served his country in the US Navy.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Rhonda and John Roberts of Galax, Virginia; son Kenneth Cornett of Westbrook, Connecticut; three grandchildren Meriden Elizabeth Roberts; Morgan Olivia Roberts; Kayleigh Nicole Cornett and Andrew Roberts; several nieces and nephews; special friend and companion Burlene Burnette.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM in the Cliffview Church of God with Pastor Sammy Holderfield and Pastor Myron Dalton officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 PM until time for the service at the Cliffview Church of God. Military Rites will be conducted by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. Inurnment will be private.
