Jewell Olene Sexton Bottomley age 88 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 in the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.

Mrs. Bottomley was born in Galax Virginia on September 29, 1927 to Walter Lee and Bertha Bedsaul Sexton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Rufus "Clyde" Bottomley; granddaughter Candida Dawn French; three sisters Billie Brown, Margaret Boyette and Gail Lamb.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Pamela and Beverly C. Russell of Galax, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Terry and Linda Bottomley of Forest City, North Carolina; three grandchildren and their spouses Stacy and Richard Goad; Kelly and Jason Burris; Chelsea and Steve Burnette; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Lee Palmer of Norfolk, Virginia; in-laws, Howard C. Brown of Galax, Virginia, Jean Amburn of NC, Bobby D. & Barbara Bottomley of Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; three very special pets.

The funeral service will be held Monday, March 21, 2016 at 4:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Eddie Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
