Obituary

Jewel Dawn Blackburn, age 88, went to be with her Savior on February 26, 2025.  Jewel was born to Earnest "Earn" and Annie Bartlett on December 19, 1936.  She is survived by her husband of 68 years, J. C. Blackburn; a sister-in-law, Glenna Bartlett; her son, Joey Blackburn (Linda); and daughters, Janice Davis (Roy), Janie Harrison, Jolena Young (Chris); grandchildren, Josh Davis, Tracy Sawyers, Jeremiah Johnson, Aaron Blackburn, Justin Seagraves, Daniel Harrison, and Susan Kitzrow; 21 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and  Special Friends Gene and Ida Bryant, Fern and Larry McMillian. Louise Bryant and Lisa Patton Earp helped care for Jewel during her final months.

Jewel was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Jack Bartlett (Mary) and Joe Bartlett; her sister Jelene Patton (Harvey); and her Son-in-Law, Dan Harrison.

A "Jewel of a Cook", her favorite job was 34 years in the cafeteria at Oakland Elementary School.  Many past students would see her out in town, and greet her as Mrs. Jewel.

Jewel was a member of Fairlawn Church of Christ where she served faithfully for over 60 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Fairlawn Church of Christ on March 15, 2025 at 11:00 am with a covered dish meal following.
